Употребление

1. Действие, происходящее в момент речи (кратковременное – длится секунды, минуты, часы)

– What are you doing now? – I am watching a detective on TV.

Обстоятельства времени: now, still, at present, at the moment

2. Действие, происходящее вокруг момента речи (более длительное – длится недели, месяцы)

Dan is writing a law book now.

Обстоятельства времени: now, still, at present, today, these days, this season (week, month).

Изменяющиеся ситуации (изменяется качество, количество, температура и т. д.; часто употребляются глаголы get, become, rise, increase, fall)

The climate of the Earth is getting warmer.

Prices are rising.

Dolly is becoming a good specialist.

Будущее действие в планах и намерениях людей

We are leaving tomorrow morning.

– What are you doing tonight? – I am writing a report.

Обстоятельства, указывающие на будущее время: tomorrow, next week, etc.
