Завдання 5. Анотація

The text is headlined “Mechanical and Physical Properties of Automotive Materials”. Unfortunately the author’s name is not mentioned. The main idea of the text is to tell about mechanical and physical properties of automotive materials, so in the first part much attention is given to strength, elasticity, plasticity, malleability, ductility, toughness, durability and other properties of automotive materials. However, the second part is mainly devoted to non-mechanical properties of interest in vehicle design and manufacture. Much attention is given to fusibility of engineering materials, density, thermal and optical properties. In my opinion the text is rather interesting and useful for the mechanic as it gives a lot of information about automotive materials.

The graph shows the production of motor vehicles for the years from 1999 to 2009 all over the world. It can clearly be seen that there has been a large increase in the number of Chinese cars manufactured over this time period, while figures for the US cars have shown a rapid fall. A considerable growth in Chinese motor vehicle production started in the middle of 2008. This number climbed to approximately 23% in 2009.

The figures for Japanese motor vehicles show slight decrease in production from the beginning of the given period till 2008. Then a dramatic reduction of production can be seen and it reaches 13% in 2009.

The figures for Germany and South Korea remain almost steady during these years of vehicle manufacturing, but there is a difference between these two countries. As for Germany, a moderate decline of figures with small increase in 2001 can be seen from 1999 to 2009. As for South Korea, the graph illustrates a minimal rise of production, there is almost no change in figures during the given period. To sum up, China has become the leader of producing motor vehicles all over the world.
