CTB: California Travel Bureau. Elizabeth’s speaking. How can I help you?

Caller: Hello, yes, I’m going to California this summer on a holiday. I hope to

spend some time in Tosemite National Park. Can you give me some

information about accommodation, please?

CTB: Certainly, yes. First of all, if you like to stay in a hotel it’s necessary to

make a reservation pretty soon. Have you any definite dates?

Caller: Well, we’ re arriving in San Francisco on the 15th of June and we’ll

probably spend a week and a half there. Then we’ll move to Yosemite

around the 26th and stay there about three or four days.

CTB: Well, I see… And where would you like to stay at? Hotel or camp?

Caller: Hotel, definitely. We don’t need anything luxurious. Just a room with

a private bathroom or a shower. Is it available?

CTB: How many are there in the party?

Caller: There are just two of us.

CTB: Well, there are three hotels rating from rather expensive – around $150

a night – to quite moderate prices – approximately $70 a night. The

Yosemite Lodge is very popular so you’ll need to make reservation

pretty soon.

Caller: OK. Clear. Could you possibly send me the details?

CTB: Certainly, your name and address, please.

Caller: Yes. It’s Mrs. Peterson, 17 Station Road, London N6.

CTB: Thank you, Mrs. Peterson. Anything else?

Caller: I think that’s all. Thanks a lot, you’ve been most helpful.

CTB: You are always welcome.

Hotel Inspector:...So, you’ve got а swimming-pool and а restaurant. Any

other facilities?

Hotel General Manager: Not yet. But we’re going to try to negotiate а deal

with the watersports club so that our guests can use

their facilities. And we’re also going to build а

poolside bar during the winter.

HI: Good idea. Now, let mе see... you’ve got 120 rooms altogether, is that

right?

HGM: Yes. At the moment there are 120 rooms plus two suites, each with its

own jacuzzi and private bar. Our twins and doubles are divided into

two categories. There are some with balcony and beach view, and then

there are а number of rooms with garden view.

HI: What about family rooms?

HGM: We have eleven family rooms. At the end of this season we’re going to

start building an extension with thirty deluxe doubles.

HI: Mmm... I see. Are аll the current rooms en suite?

HGM: Yes. They’re аll have got private bathrooms with bath and shower.

HI: Good. Are any of the rooms interconnecting?

HGM: Yes. There are а number of interconnecting doubles on each floor.

Twenty altogether.

HI: Right. Well perhaps we should go in and take а look at those rooms now. I

think it’s going to rain!

HGM: Yes. I think you’re right. Not а very good selling point!
