Структура занятия. Today you'll discuss various problems of everyday life, and mainly the way one's plans depend on various circumstances






 

Today you'll discuss various problems of everyday life, and mainly the way one's plans depend on various circumstances. Therefore you'll learn to use clauses of time and condition and the necessary vocabulary units.

 

1. Воспроизведение предложений (ритмическое оформление).

If it keeps as hot as that, it'll be hard to take our exams. We shan't return till dark unless it starts raining. We'll go bathing as soon as the water is warm enough. We'll never finish our shopping if you drive as slowly as that.

 

2. Воспроизведение по памяти расширяющихся предложений. Не will sell the car. He says he will sell the car. He says he will sell the car, if anybody wants to buy it, and get himself a bicycle. He says he will sell the car, if anybody wants to buy it, and get himself a bicycle before he is too old to ride it.

I don't mind doing without them. I don't mind doing without the modem conveniences. I don't mind doing without the modem conveniences as long as I can get away from the noise of the city. 3. Составление высказываний по подстановочной таблице.

 

        you need my help.

I promise to return   as long as   there is a (there's no) good film on TV.  
I don't mind staying at home   until  
I'll go shopping   while   it gets dark.  
I refuse to join you   if   you insist on my going there.  
You'll be fed up with camping   unless   the water is too cold to bathe.  
    before   the film (match) is over.  
        you come back from the office.  

(Можно попросить учащихся составить связные реплики из двух предложений.)

 

4. Обмен отдельными репликами из предложенного набора.

Look through the phrases below and exchange a few remarks with your partner (each student begins two or three times).

You may begin your response with: " All right", " Oh yes", " But". Youmay use more than one sentence.

How about a swim (a walk?) Suppose it never does? You'll catch your death of cold. I hope it'll clear up. I'll risk it. Wait till it stops raining. Let's go down to the beach. Let's go home. Not until it gets cooler (warmer). You can't get suntanned in this weather. I'm fed up with staying at home. Wait till the sea gets calm. I don't mind joining you. It's no use. Don't worry: I (you)'ll be perfectly all right. Do you mean now? We are in for a stretch of rainy weather.

E.g.: " Let's go down to the beach."

" Do you mean now? Wait till the sea gets calm."

Or:

" Let's go home. You'll catch your death of cold."

" Don't worry: I'll be perfectly all right."

5. Тренировка в переводе связных реплик(трех-четырех) с самоконтролем по ключу. Например:

 

Я не хочу, чтобы ты купалась. Никто не купается в это время. Вода еще слишком холодная для купания. Что я буду делать, если ты начнешь тонуть? Пловец из тебя никудышный. Подожди, пока вода не потеплеет.   I don't want you to bathe. Nobody bathes at this time of the year. The water is still too cold for swimming. What shall I do if you start drowning? You are no good at swimming. Wait till the water gets warmer.  

 

6. Логическое завершение контрастных реплик с учетом аналогичности намерения говорящих при различии в мотивации.

 

Complete the utterance in one of the contrasting pairs, showing that a similar attitude caused by different motives leads to different demands. E.g.

" I get bored very quickly, so I won't spend my holiday in the country unless (if)..."

" You know, I hate housework, so I won't spend my holiday in the country unless (if, until)..."

 

7. Составление связных диалогических реплик вответ на готовые заданные реплики (работа в парах с обменом ролями).

Respond to each of the following cues in twoor three sentences:

a) I am afraid of living in a big city. It's impossible to get away from the noise, and the roads are getting more and more dangerous!

b) Are you going to stay at home until you've done all the chores? A woman's work is never done. Take it easy and relax... etc.

E.g.: a) Yes, it's quiet in the country; but you are certain to be fed up with it as soon as you've tried to do some cooking and washing without all the conveniences. One gets accustomed to living in town, you know.

 

8. Самостоятельное построение монологического высказывания в соответствии с предложенной ситуацией и ролью.

Instruct your imaginary listener how to behave in one of the following situations, trying to foresee all the possible changes of the situation:

a) Your friend is at a loss: her guests are so particular. She wants them to go sightseeing with her, but she is not sure about their likes and dislikes; and the weather is so changeable.

b) Your friend has had an argument with her husband about where to spend their holidays. Now she is ready to compromise, but you insist that she shouldn't and instruct her in detail how to deal with her husband.

 

9. Реально-коммуникативное монологическое проблемное высказывание.

Give your own ideas on any of the following problems:

a) People are never satisfied with the weather!

b) Having a car means more trouble than convenience.

c) It's easier to get used to the noise and heavy traffic than to the absence of all the modern conveniences.

Все девять заданий направлены на отработку и лексических, и грамматических навыков, хотя в отдельных заданиях тот или иной аспект превалирует. Так, например, подстановочная таблица ориентирована, в первую очередь, на отработку грамматических навыков, а задание 4 призвано в основном обеспечить готовность к использованию лексических единиц.
