Prefixes.

В английском языке новые слова могут быть образованы с помощью приставок (префиксов), добавляемых к основе слова. При этом часто слово приобретает другое значение:

re – повторяемость действия: to recharge – перезарядить

dis – обратное, противоположное действие или отрицание: to disagree – не соглашаться

mis – ошибочность действия: to misunderstand – неправильно понять

de – изъятие, удаление: to deaerate – дегазировать

en – охват, окружение: to enlarge – увеличивать

pre – предшествование: to predetermine – заранее определить

over – чрезмерность: to overload – перегрузить

under – недостаточность: to underestimate – недооценить

in- (il-, ir-, im-) – отрицание: illegal – незаконный

inter – взаимное действие: interrelation – взаимоотношение, соотношение

multi – много: multifunctional – многофункциональный

co – общность действия, сотрудничество: to coordinate - согласовывать, координировать
