Read the dialogue " Choosing a Career" (p. 144 of your Student's book) and write out the information that proves that Amy and Brad:

•have huge plans for the future;

•have their own preferences;

•know much about career choices.

1) Brad understands that he has to go to college if he wants to become a doctor.

Amy doesn't plan on working on her minimum wage job forever. Brad wants to combine a good, satisfying job with a high paying salary. He hopes that he will be happy and successful as a doctor.

2) Brad really wants to help sick people and of course make lots of money.

Brad thinks it's important to support yourself and be able to buy things that you want.

Amy says that Brad certainly works hard enough. She is sure he will reach all his goals if he keeps working this hard.

Amy is sure Brad will never become unemployed for years like his Uncle Sam. She believes he is going to make a great doctor.

3) Brad thinks it's best to do something that you like and it makes you feel happy. His father is a lawyer and he is very disappointed that Brad doesn't want to follow him in that profession.

Brad's cousin works as a medical laboratory technician and it only took her two years to get her training and certification.

Amy thinks Brad is right about finding a job that makes you happy. Her father hates his job.

Brad's mother was a teacher before she married his father. She told him once that she liked teaching very much but that it didn't pay a very high salary. She manages a shoe store now and makes a good salary but doesn't like it as much as teaching.
