Canada occupies the largest part of the North American continent except Alaska. Its total land area of more than 9 million square kilometers makes it the second largest country in the world. The population is more than 31 million people. The capital of Canada is Ottawa.

Canada is a federation of 10 provinces and 2 northern territories. The federal Parliament consists of the House of Commons (Палата общин) and the Senate.
