Read this extract from an informal letter, describing a musical. Have you heard of it? Would you like to see it?

Last night I went to a famous musical called “Les Miserables”. I believe that the main stars sang and danced brilliantly and costumes were absolutely superb. The story was very fast moving and there were some really wonderful songs. It’s one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

It’s set in the 19th century France and it’s based on a story by the writer of Victor Hugo. It tells the story of Jean Valjean, who was sent to prison for 19 years just for stealing a loaf of bread. When he finally gets out of prison, Jean tries to make a new life for himself but he finds it very difficult as an ex-convict, so he breaks his parole. Eventually, Police Inspector Javert finds him and …..well, I won’t tell you the ending.

Now write a description of a play, musical or drama or concert you have seen recently. What was it like? Did you enjoy it? Why/why not?
