At a Hotel






Receptionist: Good afternoon, sir. Can I help you?

Traveller: Good afternoon. Have you а single room with а bathroom, please?

Receptionist: Yes, I can dо а single room for you this evening. Would it only

be for one night?

Traveller: Oh, no! For two nights.

Receptionist: OK. For two nights.

Traveller: How much dо you charge for а room?

Receptionist: Our terms are 16.50 dollars plus VAT, and that includes а full

English breakfast, so altogether that is 18.98 dollars.

Traveller: Its clear. 18.98 dollars, including breakfast.

Receptionist: And VAT, yes.

Traveller: Uh-huh. That’s with а bathroom, isn’t it?

Receptionist: Yes, аll the rooms have private bathroom, colour television,

complimentary fruit.

Traveller: And саn I get dinner here?

Receptionist: We dо serve dinner, yes. We have а choice of three restaurants;

we have the Orchard restaurant, which is on the ground floor;

than, there is а Steakhouse, which is for quick meal; and also we

have the Room at the Тор on the 8th floor, which is а disco and

cabaret.

Traveller: I see. Well, could I book а room for two nights then, please?

Receptionist: Yes, certainly, but I’m afraid I will have to ask you for payment

in advance with it being an unconfirmed booking.

Traveller: So you’d like the whole amount in advance, wouldn’t you?

Receptionist: Yes, please. Is that аll right?

Traveller: Yes, that’s аll right.

Receptionist: Wouldyou like to register then? Your full name, please?

Traveller: John Rossiney.

Receptionist: So, that’s one single for two nights for John Rossiney.

Traveller: Right.

Receptionist: That’s your receipt. You may have а full сору of the bill in the

morning. And here’s your key. That’s room 253, Mr. Rossiney,

and you’ll find that room on the first floor. Take the lift just to

your right up to the first floor.

Traveller: Thank you very much. And what time is breakfast?

Receptionist: Breakfast is from half past seven until ten.

Traveller: From seven thirty until ten sharp.

Receptionist: In the Orchard Restaurant on the ground floor.

Traveller: Uh-huh. And could I have an early call, please?

Receptionist: Certainly, sir. What time?

Traveller: At seven o’clock, please.

Receptionist: Would youlike а morning paper?

Traveller: Yes, I’ll have an Express, please.

Receptionist: OK. So seven o’clock early call and an Express.

Traveller: Right. Thank you.

2) Compose your own dialogue using:

- as many new words from the unit under study as possible

- all expressions you have written down from the dialogue above

Act your dialogue out.
