Translation






And since it has been ascertained that the Lord is the Supersoul of everything, He should therefore be heard and glorified everywhere and always. That is the special duty of the human being. When the human being gives up the process of hearing about the all-pervading personality of Godhead, he becomes victim to hearing rubbish transmitted by man-made machines….One who has perfectly heard from the perfect source becomes convinced about the all-pervading Personality of Godhead and thus becomes enthusiastic in glorifying the Lord. Because the Lord is all-pervading, it is essential to glorify Him always and everywhere.

SB 4.28.64 Purport:

Thus one has to select a bona fide spiritual master and become enlightened to his original consciousness. In this way the individual soul can understand that he is always subordinate to the Supersoul…. Although the living entity and the Supersoul are one in quality, the individual soul has to pursue the instruction of the Supersoul. That is the state of liberation.

Bg 18.61:

“The Supreme Lord is situated in everyone’s heart, O Arjuna, and is directing the wanderings of all living entities, who are seated as on a machine, made of the material energy.”

PURPORT

The Supreme Personality of Godhead, or He Himself, Kå ñ ë a, as the localized Supersoul, sits in the heart directing the living being. … Therefore all the activities of living entities are directed by this Supersoul…The living entity is not independent. One should not think himself independent of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The individual is always under the Lord’s control. Therefore one’s duty is to surrender, and that is the injunction of the next verse.

Bg. 18.62 Purport:

A living entity should therefore surrender unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is situated in everyone’s heart, and that will relieve him from all kinds of miseries of this material existence. By such surrender, not only will one be released from all miseries in this life, but at the end he will reach the Supreme God…In the Fifteenth Chapter of Bhagavad-gé tä it is stated, sarvasya cä haà hå di sanniviñ ö aù: the Lord is seated in everyone’s heart. So this recommendation that one should surrender unto the Supersoul sitting within means that one should surrender unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kå ñ ë a.

Bg 18.63 Purport:

In Bhagavad-gé tä, the Lord has explained in all respects how one can elevate his living condition. The best advice imparted to Arjuna is to surrender unto the Supersoul seated within his heart. By right discrimination, one should agree to act according to the order of the Supersoul. That will help one become situated constantly in Kå ñ ë a consciousness, the highest perfectional stage of human life.

CC Madhya 7.66 Purport:

However, the Vaiñ ë avas, the unalloyed devotees of the Lord, do not follow the process of acquiring knowledge by direct sense perception or mental speculation. Because they are servants of the Supreme Lord, devotees receive knowledge directly from the Supreme Personality of Godhead as He speaks it in the Bhagavad-gé tä, or sometimes as He imparts it from within as the caittya-guru.

As Lord Kå ñ ë a states in the Bhagavad-gé tä (10.10):

teñ ä à satata-yuktä nä à bhajatä à pré ti-pü rvakam

dadä mi buddhi-yogaà taà yena mä m upayä nti te

“To those who are constantly devoted to serving Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me.”

SB 7.2.45 Purport:

The soul can merely act in cooperation with the Supersoul because it is the Supersoul who gives him directions to act or not to act (mattaù små tir jï ä nam apohanaà ca [Bg. 15.15]). One cannot act without His sanction, for the Supersoul is upadrañ ö ä and anumantä, the witness and sanctioner. One who studies carefully, under the direction of a bona fide spiritual master, can understand the real knowledge that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is actually the conductor of all the activities of the individual soul, and the controller of their results as well. Although the individual soul possesses the indriyas, or senses, he is not actually the proprietor, for the proprietor is the Supersoul. Consequently the Supersoul is called Hå ñ é keç a, and the individual soul is advised by the direction of the Supersoul to surrender to Him and thus be happy (sama-dharmä n parityajya mä m ekaà ç araë aà vraja). Thus he can become immortal and be transferred to the spiritual kingdom, where he will achieve the highest success of an eternal, blissful life of knowledge.

2.10.9 Purport:

Although Paramä tmä and Brahman are subordinate to Bhagavä n, because Bhagavä n is Puruñ ottama or the Superperson, He is the source of the Supersoul also. In the Bhagavad-gé tä (15.18) Lord Kå ñ ë a says that He is the Puruñ ottama and the source of everything, and thus it is concluded that Ç ré Kå ñ ë a is the ultimate source and shelter of all entities, including the Supersoul and Supreme Brahman. Even accepting that there is no difference between the Supersoul and the individual soul, the individual soul is dependent on the Supersoul for being liberated from the illusion of material energy. The individual is under the clutches of illusory energy, and therefore although qualitatively one with the Supersoul, he is under the illusion of identifying himself with matter. And to get out of this illusory conception of factual life, the individual soul has to depend on the Supersoul to be recognized as one with Him. In that sense also the Supersoul is the supreme shelter. And there is no doubt about it.

The individual living entity, the jé va, is always dependent on the Supersoul, Paramä tmä, because the individual soul forgets his spiritual identity whereas the Supersoul, Paramä tmä, does not forget His transcendental position.

2.2.35 Purport:

We can easily attain to the true, spiritual conception by recognizing the Superself (Paramä tmä) to be our friend and guide and by dovetailing our intelligence with the superior intelligence of Paramä tmä. The Superself and the individual self are both spirit, and therefore the Superself and the individual self are both qualitatively one and distinct from matter. But the Superself and the individual self cannot be on an equal level because the Superself gives direction or supplies intelligence and the individual self follows the direction, and thus actions are performed properly. The individual is completely dependent on the direction of the Superself because in every step the individual self follows the direction of the Superself in the matter of seeing, hearing, thinking, feeling, willing, etc. …So if we stick to our determination and pray for the mercy of the director of intelligence sitting within the same bodily tree, like a bird sitting with another bird (as explained in the Upaniñ ads), certainly the purport of the revealed information in the Vedas becomes clear to our vision, and there is no difficulty in realizing the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Vä sudeva Krsna.

SB 3.31.16

TRANSLATION

No one other than the Supreme Personality of Godhead, as the localized Paramatma, the partial representation of the Lord, is directing all inanimate and animate objects. He is present in the three phases of time-past, present and future. Therefore, the conditioned soul is engaged in different activities by His direction, and in order to get free from the threefold miseries of this conditional life, we have to surrender unto Him only.
