Tomsk Polytechnic University

invite you to take part in

the XIII International Conference

‘Linguistic and Cultural Studies: Traditions and Innovations’,

to be held between 13 and 17 November 2013

at Tomsk Polytechnic University, Tomsk, Russia.

Proposals for participation should be in line with the following conference sections:

1.Traditions and innovations in methods of teaching foreign languages

2.Modern issues in linguistic studies

3.Higher professional education and regional culture

4.Linguistic training of university graduates. Quality assessment in secondary and higher education

5.Psychological and pedagogical aspects of modern educational technologies

6.Applied linguistics: developing the concept of the centre of academic and research excellence ‘Smart Grid’

We invite contributions from researchers and practitioners from tertiary and secondary educational institutions. Proposals from young scholars are particularly encouraged.

We welcome the following types of presentations:

· Plenary sessions – presentations of research papers will be 20 minutes in length (including 5 minutes for questions and answers).

· Section presentations – presentations of research papers will be 10 minutes in length (including 3 minutes for questions and answers).

· Workshops will be 45 minutes in length. Workshops must involve active participation and focus on participants being able to develop skills or get practical ideas for future implementation of the experience acquired.

· Poster presentations are organized for the participants being unable to present personally their research papers at conference sections. For poster presentations please submit a 250 word abstract in addition to the paper. Abstracts must include the aims and objectives of the research, methods used, results found, and conclusions.

Conference languages are Russian, English, German and French.

Application forms and abstracts of papers (up to 1 page) are to be submitted to mtflconf@mail.ru. The deadline for submissions is 07 November 2013.

Papers should be sent as an attachment with an e-mail message to mtflconf@mail.ru. The attached file should be called by the author’s name. Papers may include up to 6 pages. Authors are encouraged to use Microsoft Word Version 97-2003, Times New Roman, 14 font, single spaced, 1 cm indentation, 2 cm margins, width alignment, without word division. The list of references should be arranged alphabetically at the end of the paper; references in the text are to be made in square brackets in the order of their appearance in the text. The deadline for submissions of papers is 13 November 2013.
