Pharmacotherapeutic group: antiasthmatic

Properties:

The drug is an asthmatic which has antianaphylactic properties. It produces a strong and sustained blockage of the receptors H1 which can be clearly delimitated from its anaphylactic properties.

Indications:

Long term prophylaxis.

Bronchial asthma (all types including mixed forms).

Allergic bronchitis, asthmatic disturbances bound to high fever.

Several weeks may pass before the effect of the drug is fully manifested.

Prophylaxis and treatment:

- Multisystemic allergies

- Allergic rhinitis

- Allergic dermatosis

The drug does not react on the asthma crisis itself.

Dosage:

In general:

Children less than 6 months to 3 years: 1/2 teaspoonful or 1/2 tablet 2 x/daily

Children from 3 years and on: 1 teaspoonful or 1 tablet 2 x/daily

Adults: 1 teaspoonful or 1 tablet 2 x/daily

(morning and evening during the meals).

For patients with a tendency to sedation, it is recommended to apply a progressive dosage during the first week, begin with 1/2 teaspoonful or 1/2 tablet 2 x/daily. This dose can be increased up to 2 teaspoonfuls or 2 tablets 2 x/daily it is absolutely if necessary.

Contra-indications:

No contra-indications have been revealed until now.

Precautions:

At the beginning of a long term treatment with the drug antiasthmatic medications used previously has to be stopped at once. The preparation can diminish reflex capacity. Therefore, precaution is required in the traffic or while operating moving machinery etc. The drug, as all other medicines has to be given during the period of pregnancy or lactation only if it is absolutely necessary.

Side effects:

One can observe during the first day, a sedation, sometimes mouth dryness and light dizzines which disappear often spontaneously after some time. Some cases of ponderable augmentation have been noted.

Treatment of overdosage:

The main symptoms of overdosage are the following: drowsiness leading often to a strong alteration of vigilance, confusions and orientation troubles, tachycardia and tensional breakdowns, cramps, particularly among children, overexcitements among the child, reversible coma. The treatment is symptomatic. If the medicine has already been ingested then empty the stomach. If needed, apply palliative measures and watch the cardiovascular system, in case of overexcitement or cramps, administer a barbiturate of rapid action or a benzodiazepin.

Storage:

Keep in cool place, protected from light. Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use the drug after the expiry date printed on the box.

Packing:

Bottles of 100 ml or 150 ml syrup. Packs containing 30 tablets.
