New Zealand

New Zealand’s government is made of three branches: the executive, legislative and judicial branch. The executive branch is headed by a Monarchy (Queen Elizabeth II) and an elected Prime Minister (Helen Clark). The legislative branch has only one part and that is the House of Representatives, also known as Parliament. The judicial branch is headed by the Supreme Court.

New Zealand’s main political parties are the New Zealand Labor Party and the National Party. The native Maori population is treated well by the government, unlike the poor treatment of natives in the U.S.A and Australia.

New Zealand is an independent member of the Commonwealth of Nations and is considered to be a Parliamentary Democratic country.
