Suggest questions from the dialogue to suit the answers:

Make up your own conversation for the situation, changing the circumstances the
way you like.

Checking in at a hotel

• Read the conversation that presents a typical situation at л hotel. Make up your
own conversation.

Receptionist: Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! What can I do for

you?

Visitor: Good morning. We are Russian businessmen. We have a reser­vation made for us by the Tech Corporation. Rec.: Just a minute. Oh, yes. 8 double rooms for a fortnight. Vis.: Sorry, there's been a little change. Now we need 7 doubles and

2 singles. Rec.: I'm sorry, sir, but we are having a big international conference

here this week and we're booked out. You should have mentioned

the change when you confirmed your reservations. Vis.: You see, that was the last minute change. Do you think you can

do anything about it now? We need the single rooms for our top

executives. Rec.: Could they share a room for at least a couple of days? Some of

the conference participants are leaving on Thursday and we'll

move your executives to single rooms. Vis.: Good. Then it's settled. How much arc the rooms? Rec.: Singles are... pounds and doubles are... pounds a day. If it's OK

with you, fill in the check- in cards.
