Hotel a building where people pay to stay and have meals when they are travelling or on holiday

Bed and breakfast ( BE ) a private house or small hotel where you can sleep and have breakfast.

Guesthouse ( BE ) a private house where people can pay to stay and have meals.

Inn a small hotel or pub, especially an old one in the countryside.

Motel a hotel for people who are travelling by car, where you can park your car outside your room.

Holiday cottage( BE ), vacation rental( AE ) a house or apartment that you rent for a holiday.

Villa a house, especially in France, Italy, or Spain, that you use or rent for a holiday.

Chalet( BE ) a house that you rent for a holiday, usually in a mountain area.

Holiday home ( BE ) a house that someone owns, where they go for holidays.

Timeshare a holiday home that you buy with other people so that you can each spend a period of time there every year.

Youth hostel a place where people, especially young people who are travelling, can stay very cheaply for a short time.

Campsite( BE ), campground( AE ) an area where people can stay in tents.

Holiday camp( BE ) a specially built place where families go for their holidays and where activities are organized for them.

Dude ranch a holiday place in the US where you can ride horses and live like a cowboy.

Full board an arrangement in which the hotel where you are staying provides all your meals.

Half board an arrangement in which the hotel where you are staying provides your breakfast and one other meal.

Self-catering ( BE ) used to describe a place you stay in on holiday where you can cook your own food.

Three-star/four-star/five-star etc a mark used in a system for showing the quality of a hotel. The range is typically from one to five stars, with a five-star hotel being the best and most expensive.

Tourist destination/holiday destination place where people like to go on holiday.

Long-haul destination a place for a holiday that is a very long way away.

Resort a place where a lot of people go for holidays: seaside/beach/ski etc resort.

Tourist attraction (also tourist draw) a place that many tourists visit.

Tourist trap a place that many tourists visit, but where drinks, hotels etc are more expensive - used to show disapproval.

Tourist trade business that comes from the activities of tourists.

Tourist board an organization that gives informa­tion and produces advertisements about a country or area so that people will visit it.

Tourist information centre (also tourist office) an office that gives information to tourists in an area.

Travel agency a company that arranges hotel rooms, plane tickets etc for people who want to travel.

Travel agent someone who owns or works in a travel agency.

Tour operator (also holiday company) a com­pany that arranges and sells holidays.

High season (also peak season)the time of year when many people are taking holidays.

The off season (also low season) ( BE ) the time of year when not many people are

taking holidays.

10.People who work (Працівники)

Employee someone who is paid to work for someone else.

Worker someone who does a job, especially low-ranking job.

Co-worker someone who works with you and has a similar position.

Home worker someone who does their job in their home.

Colleague someone you work with, used especially by professional people.

Part-time someone who has a part-time job works for only part of each day or week.

Full-time for all the hoursduring which it is usual for people to work, study etc.

Freelance working independently for different companies rather than being employed by one particular company.

Self-employed working for yourself and not employed by a company.

Skilled someone who is skilled has the training and experience that is needed to do something well.

Semi-skilled needing or having some skills or training.

Unskilled an unskilled worker has not been trained for a particular type of job.

Casual employed as a temporary worker or working only for a short period of time.

Temporary worker (also temp) someone who is employed to work for a short period of time, especially in an office.

Trainee someone who is being trained for a job.

White-collar white-collar workers have jobs in offices, banks etc rather than jobs working in factories, building things etc.

Blue-collar blue-collar workers do manual work, rather than working in offices.

Workforce all the people who work in a particular industry or company, or are available to work in a particular country or area.

Staff ( BE ) the people who work for an organization.

Teleworker someone who works from home, and communicates with their employer and co-workers using the Internet, email, telephone, and by fax.

Telecommuter someone who works at home using a computer connected to a company's main office.

11.Positive aspects of work (Позитивні сторони роботи)

Job satisfaction the enjoyment you get from doing your job.

Job security how permanent your job is likely to be.

Promotion a move to a more important job or position in a company or organization.

Bonus money added to someone’s wages, especially as a reward for good work.

Pay rise( BE ), pay raise( AE ) an increase in the amount of money you are paid for doing your job.

Flexitime (also flextime) a system in which people work a particular number of hours each week or month, but can change the times at which they start and finish each day.

Job sharing an arrangement by which two people both work park-time doing the same job.

Fringe benefit an additional service or advantage given with a job besides wages.

Perk something that you get legally from your work in addition to your wages, such as goods, meals, or a car.

Paid holiday ( BE ), paid vacation( AE ) a period of time when you are on holiday, but your employer continues to pay you.

Sick pay money paid by an employer to a worker who is too ill to work.
