Данное учебное методическое пособие для студентов представляет методические рекомендации по практике устной речи. Оно включает лексический материал регионального компонента, охватывает такие темы, как «Омская область и защита окружающей среды», «Омск», «Название улиц города Омска», «Культура и спорт», «Художники города Омска» и др. Практические цели данного пособия:

¦ развитие навыков устной речи (монологической, диалогической);

¦ обучение чтению текстов регионального компонента с целью использования полученной информации в продуктивной речи;

¦ способствовать формированию лексических навыков и расширению тематического вокабуляра;

¦ способствовать формированию гражданской позиции студентов.

The Omsk region and Omsk Environment Protection

Omsk was founded in 1716. The first fortress was built on the left bank of the Om river. Omsk is one of the largest cities of Siberia. Ivan Bukholts chose the place where now Omsk is situated. Omsk is located in the south part of the Western Siberia. The Irtish flows into the Ob. The Irtish is longer than the Om.

The Omsk Region has 31 districts. The largest towns are Tara, Kalachinsk, Nazyvayevsk, Isilkul, Tyukalinsk. Tara is older than Omsk. The longest rivers are the Tuy, the Shuya, the Osha, the Ishim, the Tara. The total area of the Omsk Region is about 139 thousand square kilometers. Ist population is more than 1, 5 million.

A large number of trees and flowers decorate the city of Omsk. In the 60s it was officially given the name of a garden-city. In Omsk and its suburbs one can see birches, willows, pines, poplars, fir-trees (spruces), cedars and other different trees.

In the Siberian taiga there are squirrels, sables, martens, elks, wolves, bears, and many more other wild animals. The rivers that flow through the city are rich in fish. Now the people of the Omsk Region are witnessing great industrial development of the Region. Such developments in industry and agriculture have resulted in serious water and soil and air pollution problems. The trees that grow in the wild forests are now too weak to endure such pollution and to cleanse the polluted water, soil and air.

The people of Omsk and the Omsk Region must do their best to protect their native land and to be ready to reconstruct old factories, mills, to introduce more plants and use various up-to-date filtering techniques more widely.

A Voluntary All-Russia Society for Nature Protection has been already organized. Its aims are to help people in every possible way to survive and to solve various ecological problems with support of the government.

There are some rules the ecologists would like people to follow:

· Keep the countryside tidy.

· Respect the life and work of the rural people.

· Keep dogs and other stray animals under control/

· Dispose of litter wisely. (Put litter away)

· Water flowers and trees.

· Keep pavement (sidewalks) clean and tidy.

· Culture flowers and trees.
