WATRA 2014 – Challenge is everything!

Wę drownicza Watra – WATRA 2014 – is an event organised by the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association (ZHP) for 16-25 year old Rovers and Rangers who get together to share their experience and enjoy common programme.

Where and when will it take place?

This year we would like to invite you to join us on a route and then meet, all within 15-24 August 2014:

15th-19th August 2014 – HIKES – patrols choose one of the several routes prepared by the organisers – each in a different region of Poland. There is no doubt that everyone will find something suitable for them!

20th August 2014 – TRANSFER DAY – after the hikes each patrol moves to a campsite at Malecz near Lodz. The transport will be coordinated by the organising team but it may entail some additional cost (depending on the chosen hike). During that day you will have the opportunity to take part in additional programme activities in Lodz if you want.

21st-24th August 2014 – CAMP – hundreds of Rovers and Rangers meet at one place at the end of their hikes to gather around a campfire “watra” at the Malecz campsite. With the help of professional and inspiring instructors you will experience there an amazing adventure and learn how awarding and satisfying scout and guide activities can be. Do not go to sleep too early – we are preparing a full range of evening activities for you!

Who can participate and what should we do before WATRA 2014?

Patrols of 5-15 Rovers and Rangers aged 16-25 with one leader who must be aged 18+ and have a permission to take care of the patrol members. Each patrol has to:

- prepare two activities for other participants based on the list of topics provided after initial registration (each taking 2 hours and prepared for 15-30 people; you will run each of them twice - during the hikes and during the camp)

- prepare and perform a challenge – your own activity which is a challenge for your patrol

- get acceptance from your association’s International Commissioner.

What is the participation fee and what is included?

Participants as well as leaders pay the participation fee of 100 PLN. It includes:

- participation in a chosen hike;

- place to put up your tents during camp;

- access to drinking and boiling water during camp;
