A) State the syntactical functions of the infinitive or complexes with the infinitive.

1. It was pleasant for me to have someone I could go to with my small troubles.

2. I found it hard to keep my mind on what the colonel was saying.

3. I think she was glad to see me but much too stubborn to show it.

4. She was the first to call him that.

5. It is so simple to say nothing and pretend to have not noticed.

B) Find five sentences with the infinitive or infinitive constructions in the text. State their syntactical functions. Translate them into Ukrainian.

C) Translate the following sentences using infinitive complexes.

1. Здається ви думаєте інакше.

2. Вважають, що цей переклад краще.

3. Деякі речі важко забути.

4. Не сміши дітей, ти не даєш їм робити домашнє завдання.

5. Коли на неї очікувати?

6. Ви, здається, щось загубили.

 

IV. SPEECH EXERCISES
