Exercise 24. Cross out an odd word and explain your choice. For example: fate, late, back, mate. The 3rd word is of type 3, the rest of them are of type 1.

Exercise 26. Read the following sentences properly and quickly. Pronounce correctly sound [æ ].

The cat and the rat: the cat sat on a mat, the cat is fat, the rat sat in a hat, the cat had a nap on the mat, the rat had a nap in the hat. The cat ran into the flat.

The man and the lad. The man has a hat. The man has a bag. The fan is in the bag. The lad has a hat. The lad has a bat. The fat man has a black cat.

 

Exercise 27. Practice reading the following tongue-twister quickly and distinctly. Define the type of reading of the words in it.

Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.

A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked.

If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers,

Where’s a peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?
