Text 1. 2 science and practice of training






1. Read the following text. Express your opinion on training process.

Progress in athletics is due to the enormous increasing of the amount of training and the application of scientific knowledge. However, training is no science; in the training only empirically proven action patterns are realized. Science and practice are not competing with each other, they are complementary.

Sportive training is considering laws such as " shaping of sportive form" or within the training of the strength abilities or within the training for endurance. The guidelines are " the principles of the sportive training" which are based on practical and empirical aspects.

Science and training are basically different (" the science of coaching means theories on training"). Science is becoming the help of the coach and physical education teacher; training is the topic of this science. Training like sport is no science. Science deals with rationalization and an economization due to an evaluation of the efficiency of the used training methods. The analysis of the efficiency of training methods has contributed to the improvement of performance. Another topic of the science of coaching is the performance diagnosis.
